Book to movie adaptations that made me swoon

Alrighty guys, the time has come for me to start gushing about my favourite book to movie adaptations of all times.

Many books have gotten adaptations over the years, yet not all of them were good, or even accurate

*cough* Percy Jackson *cough*

buut, there are quite a few that are so well done, that they left me speechless, crying and wanting more and more.

So let's chat a bit about those, shall we?

The first on my list (are we even surprised?) are the Harry Potter movies. I finished reading the series last year, in 2021, yet I have been binging this entire movie series for years. I watched them so many times and yet every single time feels like the first, the magic so overwhelming that every scene makes me cry in happiness or heartbreak.

And I'm not even joking, I very much mean every scene.

Now, on a more serious note, the movies truly are brilliant. They actually follow the plot of the book to a T and I'm more than sure that if they could, they would have included so many more scenes. As a matter of fact, I have seen a few that were, in fact, filmed, just didn't make the final cut.

Harry Potter is a literary and cinematic masterpiece, a beautiful adventure that I think everyone should be a part of at least once in their lifetime, and if they end up loving it, then so many more after.

A 5/5 star, I recommend this series fully.

Next on the list we have a more recent adaptation, Unpregnant.

Now this was...well I wanted to say funny, but not entirely. While yes, the story following Bailey and Veronica is rather funny because over the course of two days they go through more out of the ordinary experiences than some people in the course of a year, the authors do touch up and openly talk about more serious topics as well, such as teenage pregnancy, abortion, consent and honesty.

I have, once again, seen the movie before reading the book, but just like it happened in the case of Harry Potter, the movie only made me want to read the book more.

It's funny, it's catchy, it definitely keeps you on the edge of your seat and it's really a life lesson. But what matters to me more than all of those traits is this: it's a true match for the book and when the time came for me to start reading, having watched it beforehand helped a lot with picturing everything in my mind. It was a beautiful experience and I hope I will get these kind of experiences more often.

This one gets a 5/5 stars from me as well.

Now last but not least on today's article is City of Bones, the adaptation for the first book in The Mortal Instruments book series by Cassandra Clare.

The day I watched this movie

actually night..

So when I watched this movie, I was hooked. It opened the gates of the Shadowhunters universe for me and I have been swooning ever since.

I mean, come on, tattooed ancient warriors with powers, a hidden base and a twisted love triangle?

By all means, count me in.

I don't know who wrote the script for the movie exactly, but what I know is that Cassie was present on set for all the filming. It doesn't surprise me, to be fair, cause this movie is just ✨chef's kiss

The adaptation is flawless, the actors have me swooning all over and the story is simply magnificent. As a matter of fact, this story touched my heart so much that my first tattoo was actually inspired by it, a healing rune.

It is still my favorite to this day.

Now back to the movie talk, it's for sure an absolute favorite of all times for me, matching the book perfectly and truthfully, I can't recommend it enough. Please go watch it and I hope it changes your lives the way it did mine, all for the absolute best.

Another joyful 5 stars from me.
