August TBR

I have to admit that this month's TBR is rather ambitious.

But the summer break finally started for me so I have 2 months at my disposal to reduce my physical TBR and to maybe finish the required readings for college as well.

But this month is all about the physical ones.

And we're kicking off this list with none other than the BookTok sensation - Icebreaker by Hannah Grace.

The first thing I heard about this beauty was that it combines smut and hockey - and honestly, what better combination is there? 😌
I'm joking, of course, but they are interesting aspects to look forward to though 👀

On a serious note tho, this book is about rivalry on ice and enemies learning to work together for the same goal and if I heard right it is also a good girl meets bad boy kind of romance, so if this is your cup of tea, definitely give it a try.

Second on the list - Pandora by Susan Stokes-Chapman.

There is just simply no way around it - the cover called to me in a heartbeat. The synopsis did as well, but only after a few moments of me gawking at the pretty cover.

This one is a historical fiction set in 1799 in London and it combines Georgian England with the enchanting Greek mythology and personally, I think that is the recipe for success. I am a big history geek and I have a thing for Ancient times, but also for 18th to 19th century England so I'm giddy just thinking about this book already.
I have read very little about Pandora's box - I wasn't patient enough to sit with the story and understand it better - so I might look it up soon and get myself acquainted with it before going into the book, just to avoid any potential confusion.

Next up we have Lessons in Chemestry by Bonnie Garmus.

I was so eager to get my hands on this one, you have no idea.

Here we have a badass main character - female main character, might I add - a chemist who's trying to make a name for herself in academia - in other words, a world dominated by men.

Oh and have I mentioned that it is set in the 1960s?

Honestly I can't even begin to tell you how excited I am to get to it, it's been sitting on my nightstand for 2 months now and I have been near tears every day of the exam session because I had to study and couldn't read it. But exams are done and now I am back in business 😎

Kingdom of the Cursed by Kerri Maniscalco

No cause this is actually outrageous - and by this I mean the fact that when I started it I was in a reading slump and then exams came along and I never got past the 30 page mark.

Sequel to Kingdom of the Wicked, the book follows Emilia di Carlo on her quest to avenge her twin sister, Vittoria's death. She partakes in quite a few adventures alongside Wrath, the most swoon-worthy Prince of Hell there ever was 😏🤭

Now lemme tell you one thing - this book has history, magic, fantasy and so much spice that spices are actually jealous. I adored the first book and I cannot wait to read the rest of the series - I am most sure I will love each and every page.

A Court of Silver Flames by Sarah J Maas

It has been near a century since this book came out, I know, but it's a brick and it's quite intimidating. Yes, 'I love big books and I cannot lie' applies to me as well, but that doesn't make them less intimidating.

This book is the first in her spin-off series starring Nesta and Cassian and truth be told, I have been begging for a series about these two rascals since A Court of Mist and Fury happened to waltz into my book collection.
I love Nessian with all my heart and I cannot wait to take my time with this adorable and sexy brick of a book and savour every page it has to offer.

Next up - One Last Stop by Casey McQuiston

As I said in my Shara Wheeler review, Casey is a hit or miss kind of author and so far for me they were a hit. I loved every book that I read from them, I feel like the LGBTQ+ representation is really spot on and I'm very excited to see what the hype is all about with this one.

I have not read the synopsis, as I want it to be a surprise when I go into it - therefore I cannot provide any summary for it. However, if Casey is your cup of tea, definitely check out their books. They truly are worth your time.

And the last - yes, finally, the last book I want to read this month is Everless by Sara Holland.

I know next to nothing about this, to be honest. All I know is that the story is set in a fantasy world where they trade in time instead of money - a concept which I have heard about before but never ventured to actually read about. It feels like a distant relative of the Faustian bargain though and that story is all types of crazy and fascinating so I'm excited to see what this book is all about and if it is worth the hype, of course.

So, quite ambitious, but I should be able to read at least 90%, if not all the books on this list in the month of August. Fingers crossed, and I'll hopefully update you all with a wrap-up in a month's time.

Until then, happy reading everyone and I am excited to hear what books are you excited for this summer?
